River Valley Nasi Lemak has built a following at Lucky Plaza's food court for its version of Singapore's beloved nasi lemak, the fragrant coconut rice dish that has transcended its Malay origins to become a multicultural national favorite enjoyed across ethnic communities for breakfast, lunch, or any time cravings strike. This food court stall prepares the essential components that define quality nasi lemak: rice cooked in rich coconut milk infused with pandan leaves for aromatic fragrance, crispy fried chicken or other protein options like fried fish or chicken cutlet, fried eggs with slightly crispy edges, crunchy fried anchovies (ikan bilis) and peanuts, cooling cucumber slices, and most importantly, the sambal chili paste that can make or break the entire dish. The stall's sambal likely features the characteristic blend of dried chilies, belacan (shrimp paste), garlic, shallots, and tamarind that creates the complex spicy-sweet-savory flavor profile that Singaporeans judge critically when evaluating nasi lemak. The food court setting allows for quick service and affordable pricing, making this a convenient option for the substantial lunch crowds that flow through Lucky Plaza daily, from office workers to shoppers needing energy for continued retail exploration. River Valley Nasi Lemak competes in a highly competitive category where Singaporeans have strong opinions about the best nasi lemak, requiring consistent execution of each component to build the loyal customer base essential for food court success.

Located at the basement kofishop at Lucky Plaza. The name screams โcome eat me, Iโm goodโ! But I find that the nasi lemak tasted so-so only.
The rice was not fragrant and lemak enough.
The fried chicken wing was dry and salty
The fish crunchy but tasted like ordinary deep fried fish. I expected the owner should have rubbed some curry powder on the fish.
Otak was cold and I hardly find any piece of fish inside.
As for the chili, the staff has a sign that says โExtra chilli 60centsโ.
Well, save your 60cents. Not much to scream about.

I had this nasi lemak, fish and chicken over fried, very dry. The skin of the chicken drumstick was so dry the colour was white, not possible to bite. Egg on the rice is thin as paper, more like a decoration. Chilli is very sweet. For people who can't take spicy food, you might like it.

Attitude apek. Anyhow pack give other customer order. After confirm the delivery.
In the end he blame me. Rider take the order never see. He hold my hp to confirm order. Now I need to pay other parties $80 fr 60 packet. Lalamove also never ask rider first. Just banned rider fr that stupid shop. Too all rider out there be careful with that shop. To lalamove yr customer svc also bad. I already delete my account with lalamove .poor app.๐

Charging extra for more chili? C'mon ! Then they give u amount a teaspoon worth, so if u're a chili lover you have to pay extra.
2nd turn off is the paper thin egg. So thin, it feels like you're eating air.
Nasi lemak is all about the chili. They take the joy of eating nasi lemak away.
A unsavoury experience. Literally and figuratively.

Didn't taste as good. Drumstick was dry & tough. Rice was also not aromatic

This nasi lemak (coconut rice) has been here for decades (?)
The rice is colored with flavour. Best chilli, and warm fried chicken. One of the best meals you can have for cheap in Orchard. This is a god-damn institution to me.

Nasi Lemak located within Lucky Plaza that's operated by Chinese but still very popular.
My first time buying from them and I got...the porridge! HAHA. It was the standard thick kind with a good amount of slice fish as well. Added soy sauce myself but all is good. $5 for a warm bowl of happiness, not too bad :)
Will come back again for their Nasi Lemak. Heard the other customers change out their fish for other things and that's amazing, because I don't like Lemak fishes so this is a big plus :)
Ok tried the Nasi Lemak already. Very value for money for the quantity and quality :)

This River Valley Nasi Lemak store always has long queues during peak hours. Somehow, today, the queue was not very long, and I was able to order one without waiting.
The menu comes in different set variations where you can choose the ingredients of your preferred set. The portion size is pretty okay, and the plate is quite large. The piping hot rice leans towards the salty coconut milk flavour, and the main star of this is definitely the sambal chilli, as well as the fried peanuts and ikan billis fish
This combination is quite hot and savoury. The curry vegetables were also soft and flavorful.
The achar vegetables are an additional side, and I liked that it's tangy and whets my appetite. Total is $6.50 for me, and the average set here is about $5.50.
I rate: 3.8/5 ๐

The nasi lemak overall is not too bad, certain dishes may be a miss though.
What I like about this nasi lemak is the warm rice, lots of dishes at a value for money price.
I used to order the set with the chicken drumstick, the drumstick may be a little drier for my liking so this time round, I had set 4; the one with the fish and the lotong vegetables is pretty good. The bergedil is an add on and not part of the set
