Restaurant Review: New Station, Far East Plaza
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆
I recently takeaway at New Station in Far East Plaza, and while the food had its moments, my experience took a turn for the worse.
To start, the food (salted fish fried rice) was good. The flavors were decent, and the prices were reasonable for what you get. Portion sizes were also alright, leaving me feeling satisfied—until I encountered a shocking issue in another dish (salted fried chicken rice)
As I bit into my chicken, a dead cockroach fell out! 😱 I can’t even begin to describe how gross that was. I rushed to rinse my mouth, feeling completely unsettled. I threw the rest away.
While I wanted to enjoy my meal, that incident overshadowed everything else. Cleanliness is crucial in any restaurant, and this experience has left me hesitant to recommend New Station to anyone.
Until they address their hygiene issues, I’d suggest looking elsewhere for a dining experience. It’s a shame because the food had potential, but the reality was hard to swallow.

💡 : Go early before the usual mealtimes even on weekends as there will definitely be a queue‼️

Found out bout this place by Word of Mouth and brought family along, lucky we reached at 530pm as the queue really start snaking after! If you are alone, can go for their rice sets below $10 ( about $8.30) but as we are a group of 5, we ordered:
1) yang chou fried rice
2) Teo chew Kway Teow 💯‼️ must get! prefer this to the fried rice!❤️
3) Salted Egg Pork 💯
4) Prawn
5) Hot Plate Tofu 💯
6) Garlic Dou Miao 💯
7) Sambal Kang Kong
…
Above all for bout $90 in total!👍which is really reasonable considering we ordered meat and seafood for a group of 5😍✨ Super satisfying singaporean meal that you can find around the heart of Orchard😬 No wonder there is a queue but no worries, bit clamp seating so people eat and leave immediately 😂

I decided to try the fried udon noodles instead of my usual salted egg pork rib. Oh damn it was good! No regrets.
The prawn paste chicken was also nicely marinated. Highly recommend this place!

This place is definitely a gem. We reached around 11.45am and it was almost full.
The food definitely deserves five stars. The salted egg pork chop was definitely phenomenal. The pork chop was very tender and they gave just enough sauce. I would have preferred a much stronger tasting sauce with more kick, but I think their version is okay also.
The Teo chew hor fun or Teo chew kuey teow was also good. Definitely got wok hei. I like it as it is hard to find a white version these days. The wok hei is really strong, and it definitely resembles the wok hei of a good penang char kuey teow.
The kum hiong lala was a bit of a let down tho honestly. Taste was it was okay, but nth phenomenal. Just similar to what your normal zhi char stall can come up with.
The staff were polite and patient (something I'm rather pleased with considering this should be a high traffic business). They did not pressure us to leave right after we finished (unlike some who start clearing your plates and tables once you are done eating but not done drinking). As a courtesy, we did not stay to chat after we finished.
I gave 5 stars as they have a wow factor in their food (something u can't find just anywhere). They were also polite and friendly which I also liked. Will definitely come back again.
