Misato has established itself as a hidden gem within The Centrepoint's Gastro+ dining precinct, offering authentic Japanese cuisine that balances premium ingredients with surprisingly accessible pricing. Located at unit 01-33E at 176 Orchard Road, the restaurant has built a loyal following among diners who appreciate quality Japanese food without the excessive markups often associated with high-end ingredients.
The restaurant's standout offering is its A5 Ohmi Wagyu Hoba Miso Yaki, priced at 3.80, which delivers genuine premium Japanese beef served on a traditional hoba leaf with miso at a fraction of what comparable establishments charge. This commitment to providing high-end ingredients at casual prices extends throughout Misato's menu, from the popular Misato Ebi Donburi featuring deep-fried live tiger prawns with soft, runny egg over Japanese rice at 5.90, to the comforting Chicken Katsu Curry Set and Ebi Fry. The Seafood Kaminabe Set offers a lighter hotpot option with clear broth, whilst traditional preparations like Okonomiyaki savoury pancakes and Cha Soba matcha noodles showcase the kitchen's range.
Misato distinguishes itself through its commitment to authenticity, importing all ingredients, condiments, and even tableware from Japan whilst maintaining a strict no-MSG policy. This dedication to genuine Japanese dining extends to the dessert menu, which features handmade items rarely found in Singapore including Sanshoku Warabi Mochi with three flavours (black sesame, roasted soybean, and matcha), Matcha and Goma Bavarois, and Kuzukiri arrowroot noodles with Kuromitsu dipping sauce.
The restaurant's location within The Centrepoint's renovated Gastro+ area provides a modern dining environment that attracts office workers seeking quality lunch options and shoppers looking for substantial meals between retail therapy sessions. Misato's reputation for delivering exceptional value has earned it recognition from food bloggers and loyal patronage from those who have discovered this unassuming Japanese restaurant tucked within the mall.

One of my favourite Japanese places. The attention to detail and quality of the food is top notch, beautiful plating and fresh ingredients. My personal favourite dish was the okonomiyaki, crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. Ebi don had gorgeous plating and the eggs were super fluffy. Overall would highly recommend, only downside is that the food may take awhile to be served but it's probably because they have a small kitchen. Price is reasonable for the quality of the food.

We had an unexpected but wonderfully enjoyable lunch on a random weekday. A quick Google search for food options at Centrepoint brought us here, and we couldn’t be happier with the find.
We ordered the okonomiyaki, katsudon, and a seafood nabe soup (I forgot the exact name!). The okonomiyaki was perfectly crisp on the underside, with a rich glaze of sauce and eggs on top.. absolutely delectable. It was so good that we even requested another one to go (a special favour they don’t usually offer).
The seafood nabe soup was light yet deeply flavourful, and my mom couldn’t stop raving about it the entire time.
Even their plates and presentation were beautiful, I couldn’t resist taking photos of every dish. Their service is also friendly :)
All in all, we’ll definitely be back again. I really hope this gem stays open for a long time 🥹✨

Came to Misato with sky high expectations after reading online reviews. The menu had something for everyone and this made it easy for me to decide to come here.
Absolutely no complaints about service - it was definitely above average (RBF index was zero compared to servers in some cafes). If I had to nitpick, it was that the servers should have placed the meals that would allow diners to eat comfortably (too much to ask for in local context).
Ambience? Don’t expect much. Normal tables and chairs layout, slightly tight at one side of the restaurant. The restaurant provides 8 seats for diners waiting for tables so that’s a plus. Depending on your fellow diners and the number of customers, the noise level could be tolerable but conversations won’t be intimate (I can hear conversations 3 tables away).
Next, food. I really wanted to give this restaurant a 5-star rating. But I often find the meals to be lacking - the chicken in the cod set, the portion of beef, the rice isn’t as fluffy as I would like. In terms of the quality/quantity of food compared to what I paid for it, I didn’t quite feel I got full value for money.
I will definitely return to this restaurant as there are other meals/dishes I will like to try. In the crowded F&B landscape in Centrepoint, Misato stands out as an excellent and convenient choice.
Suitable for: small groups, families, friends.
Not recommended for: couples, solo diners looking for peace.

Very happy to see Misato still here and doing better than before, now with queues outside. We last came in 2017 and 2018; today we are surprised by the queue. glad to be here in time for the first seating. Food is as good as we remembered it - a feat to maintain the standard through the years. Plating and presentation is overall exquisite. Decor is similarly tasteful as before. Food wise: Cheese croquette highly recommended. Kid liked the yakitori set, my katsudon (pork with egg bowl) was solid. Hubby found the chicken katsu a bit dry, but the freshly ground roasted sesame and sauce helped. Too full for the desserts that we had before but going by the standard I’m sure they are still good. Ordered the Sesame pudding which was fantastic. Highly recommend that.
All staff were very professional. Manager Joan was super friendly and nice to speak with. Suggest for you to decide in advance and order all the sides and mains together. We wanted to add one main and it was a 30min more wait because of all the orders. Reservations are possible but limited quantities, so call in advance, or plan to arrive early enough to be within the first seating. Loved that we came here unplanned and still had a very satisfying dinner.

Haven’t had such good, quality, authentic Japanese food in a while. The chawanmushi is one of the best I’ve had in Singapore. There were so many chunks of crab meat but what really impressed me was the big piece of chicken at the bottom that was actually seasoned and not thrown in just for the sake of it.
The okonomiyaki was delicious and well seasoned. The sauces didn’t overpower the flavour of the dish and textures were just perfect. The kamameshi was flavoured very well too. My only gripe is that the rice was a lil soggy.
The closing dish of red bean and toasted mochi.. never thought I’d see this outside of Japan. The dessert wasnt too sweet, and the red beans left whole in the soup provided another textural element too.
Will definitely return!! Thank you for the great service too!
