Kaku-Uchi Sake Bar at Isetan Scotts offers one of Orchard Road's most intimate Japanese dining experiences – a hidden six-seater tucked away at the back of Isetan's supermarket near the alcohol section. This hole-in-the-wall sake bar has become a quiet discovery for sake enthusiasts and those seeking authentic Japanese flavors in a cozy, unpretentious setting.
Despite its tiny size, Kaku-Uchi delivers a genuine izakaya experience. The menu features Japanese comfort food including omelette and curry rice, perfect for pairing with their selection of sake. The bar's discreet location inside Isetan's basement supermarket adds to its appeal – it's the kind of place you discover by word of mouth or while wandering the supermarket aisles. The limited seating means it's often busy, adding to the exclusive atmosphere.
Kaku-Uchi represents the growing sake culture in Singapore, offering an alternative to larger, more boisterous Japanese restaurants. The bar operates until 9pm, making it ideal for lunch or early evening dining. For those who appreciate fine sake in an intimate setting where they can converse with the staff and learn about different varieties, this unassuming six-seater delivers an experience that feels authentically Japanese and miles away from the bustling mall above. It's a testament to how some of Orchard's best culinary experiences are the ones you have to seek out.

Visited my buddy in Singapore for a day trip and she took me to this place.
Nice quiet sake bar and good recommendation on the sake menu... we tried 3 of the one in the list and than got a few more on the fridge but too bad they only allowed sake on the bar.
My buddy and I drink for almost 4 hours in there.
Staff are helpful and friendly too.
Love this place a lot. Will come back for more sake for my next visit.

Update on 7 April 2025:
I am very happy that the sake bar re-opens after the long closure due to Covid-19.
With the re-opening, I befriended the new lady boss who manages the bar. Ms Pearly features different sakes monthly which my friends and myself enjoy when paired with sashimi, sushi and food offerings in Isetan supermarket. Hot sakes and whiskey are available too!
This bar is also a place for ‘‘like-minded’ sake lovers to share drinks and food while chilling.

Great place to chill out. You need to buy the sake that is in promotion. Of course, you can buy food from the sushi, sashimi counter to enjoy your drink.
Delicious Myojo
This sake bar is located Isetan supermarket. As per the name, they only serve sake and nothing else. They change the sake menu every two weeks. It is good for the sake lovers to have the opportunity to try various sake. We had a very pleasant experience today. The representative, Helen from Kikusui Sake whose range of sake is on the menu this week. She was sharing with us the different range of sake and we get to sample some of the sake. There are four type of sakes available on the menu and the genshu sake was already sold out. Grab your sushi, sushi or bento from the counter and compliment it with a glass of sake. We selected some sashimi and pair with Kikushi No Karakichi sake that is on the dry side as I don’t like the sake to be too sweet. It’s relaxing and enjoyable. I had a good experience.
