Warning to Prospective Patients!
If you value kindness, professionalism, or even basic human decency, avoid Dr Joyce Lim at all costs.
From the outset, her surly, unfriendly demeanour set the tone of the entire consultation. She barely spoke a word, making me feel more like an inconvenience than a patient. Unsurprisingly, her two nurses mirrored her conduct — equally cold, unhelpful, and detached.
The laser treatment itself was the most appalling part. Without a word of warning, she unleashed searing, unbearable pain with her machines. My face was shoved roughly from side to side, handled with zero care or compassion. This was not medical treatment — it was cruelty disguised as healthcare.
No patient should ever be subjected to such treatment, least of all when paying thousands of dollars in fees. For your own safety, comfort, and dignity, I urge you not to endure what I went through here.
I truly regret not checking the Google reviews earlier, many of which echoed similar sentiments. It is clear her own standoffish, “mightier-than-thou” behaviour sets the tone for her entire clinic. No wonder her staff appear equally sullen and devoid of patient care.
Compassion is a fundamental trait of a good doctor — yet it is glaringly absent here. And perhaps, at over 70 years of age, it is far too late for her to learn what younger, better-qualified dermatologists practising in other clinics within Paragon Medical Centre already demonstrate with ease: professionalism, kindness, and respect for their patients.

Three visits to Joyce Lim’s clinic were more than enough. After covering my face with thick numbing cream, I was told to wipe it off myself — while perched on a wobbly rolling stool in what looked like a storeroom. No treatment couch, no basic amenities. Shocking, considering this is one of the more spacious clinics around, with rooms seemingly wasted on storage. Even much smaller clinics treat patients with more consideration, providing proper removal of the paste-like cream and cleansing of the face before treatment. Frustration is too mild a word.
Then, a day later, disaster struck. My face began to swell, turning red and hardened, with obvious signs of a severe rash. What was supposed to be a simple treatment became instead a painful reminder that sometimes the outcome can be worse than the cure.
On reflection, this might have been avoided with basic diligence. The clinic assistant who applied the numbing cream never once asked whether I had any known allergies, nor did they provide information about the product used. This lack of precautionary questioning or disclosure is concerning — especially for a medical aesthetic procedure.
A painful lesson learnt. I strongly urge the clinic to review their pre-treatment screening protocols, treatment environment, and aftercare processes to prevent this from happening to others. Patients deserve to feel safe, informed, and cared for — not left to manage complications on their own.

I visited Dr. Joyce Lim’s clinic in Paragon for treatment of an infected skin cyst. The clinic itself looks nice from the outside, but my experience with Dr. Lim was disappointing. From the start, she was very cold and didn’t communicate much. After a brief consultation, she prescribed antibiotics and explained that the cyst would need to be removed surgically. She mentioned that I would have a horizontal scar as a result.
When I returned for the procedure, I noticed that her sleeves were down (not bare below the elbows), which made me question her adherence to proper hygiene protocols. The anaesthetic injections were done very quickly and in a rough manner, making them alot more painful then other ones ive had before. During the procedure, she didnt let me know how she is progressing, just lots of scrapping and squeezing. Once the cyst was removed, Dr. Lim stitched up the wound and with minimal explanation no time for questions or concerns, she left.
Upon examining the stitches, I was alarmed by their appearance. They were long (about 2.5cm), tight (suggesting a lack of deep stitches), and seemed poorly placed (which my friends and family agreed on). If she cant even do stitches right, how do I have the confidence she did the rest of the procedure adequately (did she remove the whole cyst?, she said the cyst burst, did she clean it all out?)?. When I returned to have the stitches removed, the nurse seemed concerned and called Dr. Lim in for a review. Dr. Lim dismissed the issue, claiming everything was fine.
After 1-2 weeks, the deep stitches came loose and started coming out of my wound, and I noticed the wound beginning to widen. As a result, the scar I now have isn’t just a simple horizontal line, but more like a box shape due to the long stitch marks and the widening of the wound.
Given that I paid a huge sum for treatment at a private clinic, I expected a higher level of care. Unfortunately, Dr. Lim’s treatment fell far below acceptable standards. Her communication, patient care, and surgical technique were all subpar. I’m left wondering how her clinic has managed to stay in business for this long. I should have checked the google reviews beforehand

Dr Joyce Lim is an unprofessional and unreliable doctor. I have been going to her clinic for my acne ever since 2015. Initially, it improved. However, as the years go by, my acne didn't improve and became worse. She prescribed creams and serums that are in excess. She even advised me not to put sunscreen as it causes pimples and make my acne worse. What's worse is that for every appointment, she is late for 20-45 mins and she never apologises for being late. Her appointment is always rushed and she kept on saying the same thing over and over again that is "You're still young. You will have pimples until the age of 35 years old". Please do not visit Dr Joyce Lim for your skin issues.

I visited Dr. Joyce Lim’s clinic for acne treatment and underwent nearly a year of care (including six months on Accutane). While my acne is now under control, post-acne redness and scarring remain. I proceeded with several laser sessions costing >SGD 5,000, but saw MINIMUM to NO IMPROVEMENT
I understand her busy schedule, however, consultations were brief (5–10 minutes for SGD 130) and often felt rushed, with different topical medication prescriptions and diagnoses at each visit. When I raised my concerns, I was accused of mistreating her staff—an allegation that I strongly deny and found highly unprofessional.
Considering the significant cost and lack of clear results, I expected a more patient-focused and respectful experience. I hope this feedback helps improve care quality for others.

I had a photofractional laser treatment at Dr Joyce Lim’s clinic and the whole experience was smooth and efficient. Dr Joyce has steady hands and excellent skills, making the procedure comfortable. Recovery was quick and my facial complexion has noticeably improved.

I went to see Dr Joyce on the 25th Aug to remove a small patch of skin that seems to be like a wart, but was diagnose as a type of benign skin growth similar to skin tag. My experience with Dr Joyce was a pleasant one.
I like my consultation to be straight forward, simple and most important, correct diagnosis and skillful execution. I have been in consultations where the specialist talks and talks but the diagnosis is incorrect and surgical execution is not up to par. Sometimes you only find out after you go through the entire procedure.
This was not the case with Dr Joyce. She was professional, straight to the point and surgically precise in removing the skin growth. I waited awhile to write my review because I wanted to be sure that what Dr Joyce say will come to pass. And indeed, the wound has healed very nicely leaving only a very tiny scar. The cream, antiseptic dressing solution, cotton gauze provided assisted greatly in healing the wound. Highly Recommend!

I am consistently impressed by Dr. Lim's care. Today, she went above and beyond by seeing me for a follow-up concern and waiving the consultation fee. This kind of generosity and patient-first attitude is why I've trusted her with my skin for so long. A truly compassionate doctor.

I had complications from some procedures in aesthetic clinics, so decided to come to Dr Joyce because of her renowned experience and skill. I had previously gone to a few doctors and dermatologists who were bewildered and told me to wait it out and let my skin get better with time.
Dr Joyce however said that enough time had passed and things would have improved by then if they were going to , and instead recommended me a series of Tixel treatments which I’d never heard of previously. I took a leap of faith because I was quite desperate to get the problems resolved.
They worked well enough that I became very much less bothered about my skin .. scarring and pigmentation reduced to the extent that I found I was ok facing strangers without makeup. They’re not completely gone, maybe improved by 50%-70% (really can’t quite put a number on it) but I’m more comfortable in my own skin now.
I’m grateful to Dr Joyce, I feel she is very knowledgeable and does the procedures with a lot of care. She may seem a little intimidating but I sense she is quite warm at heart. Thank you Doctor!

In terms of professional dermatologic and aesthetic care, Dr Joyce Lim is my go to physician in Singapore - Her depth of expertise helps so much in my scaring post C section. The treatment plan and scar mgt was really good, I recovered today without any keloid, scar barely even visible. My subsequent eczema and pigmentation issue were also solved by Dr Joyce. Her team of nurses are A*, very dedicated and professional. I recommend this clinic because of their honest, ethical, no sugar-coating but effective treatment plan for your problems.
