Food Opera at ION Orchard brings Singapore's beloved hawker centre experience into the refined elegance of the city's most prestigious shopping mall, creating a unique dining destination that combines the authenticity of local heritage cuisine with the comfort of air-conditioned luxury. Located in the basement of ION Orchard, this upscale food court houses 27 carefully selected vendors offering an incredible variety of Singapore's most iconic dishes, from Hainanese chicken rice and char kway teow to laksa, rojak, and countless other local favourites that showcase Singapore's multicultural food heritage in one convenient location. What sets Food Opera apart from typical hawker centres is its elegant ambiance, meticulous cleanliness, and carefully curated vendor selection that ensures every stall meets high standards of food quality, authenticity, and taste, creating a dining experience that appeals to both locals who know their hawker food and tourists seeking an introduction to Singapore's famous culinary culture in a comfortable, accessible environment.
The variety of cuisines represented at Food Opera reflects Singapore's diverse food culture, with vendors specialising in Chinese, Malay, Indian, Peranakan, and various fusion dishes that have developed uniquely in Singapore over generations of cultural exchange and culinary innovation. Each vendor brings their own family recipes, traditional cooking methods, and regional specialities to the food court, creating a comprehensive tour of Singapore's food landscape without needing to travel to multiple neighbourhood hawker centres across the island. The air-conditioned environment provides welcome relief from Singapore's tropical heat and humidity, making it an especially attractive option for tourists who want to experience hawker food without braving outdoor conditions, while locals appreciate the comfort and convenience of enjoying their favourite dishes in a clean, modern setting that maintains the authentic flavours and affordable prices that make hawker food so beloved.
Food Opera's strategic location in ION Orchard's basement makes it an incredibly convenient dining option for shoppers taking a break from browsing the mall's luxury boutiques, office workers from the surrounding commercial buildings seeking lunch or dinner, and anyone exploring Orchard Road who wants authentic Singaporean food without venturing far from the main shopping belt. The food court accepts various payment methods including cashless options that suit modern preferences, while delivery availability through Foodpanda means you can enjoy Food Opera's diverse offerings even when you can't make it to the mall in person. Whether you're a Singaporean craving your favourite local dishes, a tourist curious about hawker food culture, or simply someone who appreciates good food in a comfortable setting, Food Opera delivers the perfect combination of authentic flavours, variety, convenience, and comfort that has made it a favourite dining destination in ION Orchard.

I am a local and the laksa here is very overpriced, for just an average bowl of laksa. Came here twice, and they did not have the smaller prawns both time, u will be forced to buy the more expensive bowl instead. Quite scam-y.
A bowl of laksa with small prawns is around ~$8 (two times overpriced), came at 7pm and 5pm but they dont have small prawns, so they told me to order the king prawns laksa bowl ($10.80), i was thinking "well $2 for 2 big prawns added is pretty alright", but really they just give 1 and a half small prawns. 🤔 very overpriced for what is only an average bowl of laksa.
In conclusion, just google "singapore top laksa" and pick one from there thats actually local and reasonable and maybe even better than average.

Horrible service and food from Food Opera Korean food stall. Just look at the ridiculous small amount of food they gave for the $9 Chicken and Pork set. Ridiculous! When I asked them why so little the cook is extremely rude and said yup that’s the amount we give and it doesn’t mean that you order more expensive double meat set we give you more meat! What horrid service and we will never patronize this stall again.

Joon Wei Teow
A bustling food court offering a wide variety of food and drinks. Despite the many available tables, it still took some time to find a seat due to the crowd. Prices are slightly on the higher side, but the fish ball noodles were quite good. Overall, an okay experience.
Blackraven
A busy food court at the heart of Orchard, conveniently located via escalator from the mrt station. Had tried Kam’s Roast, and highly recommend the lean char siew and tender roast duck. There are many other stalls, will try them next time. Expect prices of a premium food court!

The food opera is a haven for foodies.
I was like a baby in a candy shop, I tried every food my stomach could hold.
The food opera is found on the fourth floor of the ion Orchard.
The food opera is very vibrant with impressive decor that makes great spots for Instagram.
The stalls here have an extensive menu with diverse options.
Delicious dishes, with creative flavour combinations.
staff at the different restaurants and vendors are friendly and welcoming. Orders were taken promptly, and food comes in less than 10 minutes
Prices are slightly higher than average. Portion size is generous servings.
Overall Experience; The Food Opera offers an exceptional dining experience with its impressive ambience, creative dishes, and excellent service. While prices might be slightly higher, the quality and experience make it worthwhile.
I'd highly recommend The Food Opera for sampling Asian cruisine or nights out with friends.

Honestly, whoever says Singapore has no good food and expensive, you should come to Food Opera.
Food here is above average and my favorite has to be the Bak Choh Mee (in my opinion is even better than the one Michelin star Bah Choh Mee) & The Indonesian Grilled Chicken rice.
My other favorite is Laksa. Very rich and flavorful broth.
My must visit every time I’m in Singapore!

Upmarket hawker centre, we felt prices were really sharp as Australians. Had the best Indonesian chicken sate I have ever had in my life here, the lady behind me ordered 5 sets! The prawns laksa is rich and full of umami flavour.
