Dapur Padang at Food Republic brings authentic Indonesian Padang-style cuisine to the bustling food court environment of 313@Somerset. Located within the basement food court at 313 Orchard Road, this Malay-based stall specialises in the traditional nasi Padang format—steamed rice accompanied by an array of richly spiced dishes characteristic of West Sumatra's culinary heritage that has become a beloved staple across Singapore and Malaysia.
The serving style follows the classic Padang approach where customers select from a wide range of pre-cooked dishes displayed prominently at the stall. The extensive vegetable options provide variety often lacking at typical food court outlets, with offerings including tofu and tempeh preparations, beansprouts with long beans, and achar—the quintessential sweet and sour tangy mix of cucumber, carrot, and pineapple that provides refreshing contrast to richer dishes. The Nasi Padang Set A, priced at an accessible $5.50, includes rice plus choice of three vegetable dishes, delivering substantial value for the Orchard Road district.
The interactive service adds to the experience, with servers offering to complement selections with sauces from other dishes and enquiring about preferred spice levels—allowing customisation that accommodates both heat-seekers and those preferring milder flavours. This personalised approach elevates the transaction beyond mere food court efficiency, creating engagement that references traditional Padang restaurants where multiple dishes arrive at the table simultaneously.
For shoppers and office workers seeking flavourful, filling, vegetable-forward meals that move beyond standard food court fare, Dapur Padang delivers the aromatic, complex flavours of Indonesian cuisine in a convenient, affordable format that fits seamlessly into busy Orchard Road schedules.

SCAM. Do not eat here. I ordered beef rendang set 8$ and additional chicken 4.20$. But the old lady gave me set rendang and set chicken in receipt. Too bad I did not check before payment.

Scam. Avoid buying single takeaway dishes. They charge $5 per small spoonful of dish.
The lady who serves needs to stop sighing and being so impatient.

The Padang meals from this stall in 313 Mall Food Court (Dapur Padang) were delicious.
They had several vegetable selections, we choose 3 types and all were really nice - the brinjal, long beans and lady’s fingers.
The Beef Rendang was quite tender, the portion was rather small.
However, the Ayam Merah Thigh/Leg was a big portion, the gravy of this item wasn’t spicy but delicious.
The sambal dried fish was crispy and flavorful.
The slice of egg omelette was rather small, but tasted really good with the Sambal chili they provided.
The next time we dine there, we need to request for more curry gravy on our rice….and the rice serving for wifey was “too big”. Wifey said 2/3 portion would be just right for her.
All in all, the $22 for the 2 servings were priced reasonably.

I ordered 2 vegetables and 1 meat with rice.
I was satisfied with the taste and quantity. It's hard to get enough vegetables when eating out, so this format is very useful.
There are various types to choose from, so I'd like to order again if I can't decide what to get or if I'm craving vegetables.
