Pleasantly surprised by how comforting yet bold the flavours were. Everything felt well-balanced and thoughtfully done. Loved the white mapo tofu and the golden broth poached fish. Great spot for something flavourful without being too heavy. Relaxed vibe and good service too.
What we ate:
• Poached Fish Fillet in Golden Broth
• White Mapo Tofu
• Szechwan Spiced Chahan with Sakura Shrimp
• Double-Boiled Pear
• Caramelised Mala Pecan Ice Cream

Elevated Sichuan cuisine with a Japanese twist. Would not call it fusion as we feel it still retains mostly the Sichuan characteristics. Kitchen is quick to cook the dishes. Restaurant is busy during meal times with a short queue. We visited chef’s Michelin restaurant some time ago. Chens continues to serve high standard of food with accessible price range. Restaurant is small so best to reserve.

Honestly, way better than expected
Guess the true joy of eating out is having no expectations. 😆 food tastes a bit pre-made, but seasoning was great (you can tell the talent behind it), plus can’t ask for much at this price.
I stumbled upon this place on Grab Tuesday at 40% off and thought I’d just grab a quick weekday bite… then found out it s a budget version of sichuan restaurant.
The seasoning was surprisingly good (especially for a spot tucked B1 mall…). Dishes came out super fast — maybe slightly pre-prepared — but props to them, the ebi dish had a really nice sweet-and-sour balance.
The Mapo tofu (classic) lacked a bit of wok hei, but honestly for casual dining, it passed with flying colors. The standardized sauce and seasoning were well done.
After the discount, it came to under $20 per person — solid deal and a pleasant surprise overall.

Food was delicious especially the mango prawn. Their ginger ale is special as it has a subtle peppercorn ginger taste. Nice environment to dine in. Will come back again to try their mapo tofu.
PS. Their staff Xiao Ma is very friendly n nice. Thumbs up for his service. 👍

Chen's, awarded MICHELIN Bib Gourmand Indeed live up to their name! Thumbs up for all the food we ordered in Chen’s today! Special thanks to Lynda & Chris for the wonderful service! They are so professional & helpful in recommending all the good dishes. We had a very satisfying dinner, even my 6yo daughter also commented the pork & fish are good! :) will definitely come back again to try out other dishes!

It’s a wonderful food dining experience at Chen’s kitchen at PLQ. The food tastes great and I like the sparking ume drinks and century eggs w tofu. The service is great. Xiao Ma ( we called him “Xiao Ma Ge” as it’s one of Chou Yun Fa’s acting character ) is friendly and know the products well. Thumbs up 👍.

A great mapo tofu rendition, the umami sauce would pair perfectly with a serving of rice. I believed the spice level could be requested higher to suit individuals. The golden fried rice topped with sakura ebi was also a good stable for the meal.

Had dinner at Chen’s Kitchen in Paragon — a modern Chinese restaurant by the team behind Chengdu Restaurant, known for bringing bold Sichuan and classic Chinese flavors into a contemporary dining setting.
The Sweet and Sour Pork was excellent — crispy on the outside, tender within, and perfectly balanced between tangy and sweet. Overall, the food was flavorful and well-executed, and though the place was busy, the staff remained attentive and efficient.
A great option in Orchard for authentic Chinese cuisine with a modern touch — quality dishes, great service, and dependable consistency. Rating: 4/5.

Tried this restaurant for the first time, the taste of the foods are surprisingly good 👍🏻 ! We ordered the set, the portion is generous, will try the mapo fish & tofu in our next visit.
Although the restaurant was running on minimum servers but the 2-3 staffs’ service are commendable especially the little uncle, zooming in & out of kitchen at lightning speed but making a point to check on the tables that guests are doing fine and happy. Kudos to the crew !
The restaurant can be very noisy when there is a big crowd, therefore ambience could be improved.

Yummy lunch. We tried their White Mapo Tofu, a refined version with velvety smooth tofu and a delicate, umami-rich sauce. We also enjoyed the Egg Garlic Chahan, a garlicky and flavorful fried rice, and the Kurozu Kurobuta, a delicious sweet and sour pork glazed in a tangy black vinegar.
To finish, we had the unique Mala Pecan Ice Cream, which offered a surprisingly delicious sweet, nutty, and spicy kick.
