Wintel Engineer (North)

Server Deployment and Configuration:

• Design, deploy, and configure Windows Server operating systems (e.g., Windows Server 2016/2019/2022) across physical and virtual environments.
• Implement and manage server roles and features such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file services, and Group Policy.
• Develop server deployment scripts and automation tools to streamline provisioning processes.

Patch Management and Updates:

• Develop and maintain patch management strategies using tools like Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), or similar solutions.
• Plan and execute scheduled patching activities while ensuring minimal impact on production systems.
• Perform regular vulnerability assessments and apply security patches in accordance with organizational policies.

Monitoring and Performance Optimization:

• Monitor server performance metrics using monitoring tools (e.g., Microsoft System Center Operations Manager, Nagios, etc.) to identify and address performance issues.
• Implement performance tuning techniques and optimizations to enhance server responsiveness and resource utilization.
• Conduct capacity planning exercises to forecast server resource requirements based on business growth and demand.

Backup and Recovery Planning:

• Design, implement, and manage server backup solutions to ensure data protection and disaster recovery readiness.
• Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures, conduct regular tests, and update recovery plans as needed.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to define recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO) for critical systems.

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:

• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of server configurations, deployment processes, and troubleshooting guidelines.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to junior team members and support staff.
• Contribute to knowledge base articles, best practices, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the team.
