School Counsellor

The School Counsellor provides professional counselling support to students, promotes student well-being, and works closely with academic and administrative teams to support student development within the institution.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counselling to students on academic, personal, emotional, and social matters

• Identify students at risk and provide appropriate intervention, referral, and follow-up support

• Maintain accurate and confidential counselling records and case notes

• Work collaboratively with academic staff and student services on student welfare matters

• Support student administration matters, including student discipline, attendance, and well-being cases

• Conduct workshops, talks, or outreach programmes related to mental wellness and student development

• Engage parents or external professionals when necessary, in accordance with school policies

• Comply with institutional policies, professional ethics, and confidentiality requirements

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of counselling experience, preferably in higher education or a school environment

• Certified qualification in Counselling (e.g. Diploma, Degree, or Postgraduate qualification in Counselling or related field)

• Experience working with students and handling student-related administrative matters

• Able to converse fluently in English and Mandarin to support a diverse student population

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and listening skills

• Professional, empathetic, and able to manage sensitive situations with discretion

• Familiarity with student welfare policies and educational settings is an advantage
