Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessment (vital signs, medical history, allergies).

• Prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery.

• Administer pre-operative medications as prescribed.

• Verify consent forms and ensure surgical safety checks.

• Educate patients and families on procedures and recovery expectations.

• Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during procedures.

• Maintain sterile field and infection control practices.

• Prepare surgical instruments and equipment.

• Monitor patient condition throughout procedures.

• Monitor vital signs and level of consciousness in recovery area.

• Assess pain levels and administer medications.

• Observe for complications (bleeding, infection, adverse reactions).

• Provide wound care and dressing changes.
