HEAD CHEF

Job Summary

Ensure excellent food quality and timely service by planning menus within budget, managing kitchen operations, training staff, maintaining stock, enforcing safety standards, and innovating recipes to keep the menu fresh and aligned with industry trends.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all food is prepared and served with excellent quality and timeliness to delight customers
• Plan menus considering budget constraints and seasonal ingredient availability to optimize costs and freshness
• Oversee daily kitchen operations to maintain smooth workflow and high standards
• Coordinate and assist kitchen staff to enhance team performance and efficiency
• Train kitchen staff to prepare and cook all menu items consistently and safely
• Conduct regular stocktaking of ingredients and equipment and place timely orders to maintain adequate supplies
• Enforce strict safety and sanitation standards to comply with health regulations and ensure a safe kitchen environment
• Develop new recipes to refresh the menu and attract customers with innovative dishes
• Monitor industry trends and incorporate relevant ideas to keep the menu competitive
• Collect and analyze customer feedback to implement continuous improvements in food quality and service

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Culinary school degree or diploma
• Previous experience working as a chef
• Advanced knowledge of culinary arts to create high-quality dishes
• Portfolio showcasing creative and unique dishes
• Strong multitasking skills to manage multiple kitchen tasks efficiently
• Leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate and manage kitchen staff
• Ability to perform stocktaking and manage inventory orders accurately
• Commitment to high standards of sanitation and quality control
• Strong work ethic to perform effectively in a high-pressure kitchen environment
