Head Barista

The Job In A Nutshell

The Head Barista is the face of Yoga Movement’s coffee bar, situated in our Flagship Studio in

Orchard. They are responsible for all operational elements of the coffee takeaway counter, including

but not limited to beverage preparation, ordering, inventory, customer service and transaction

management and engaging with our members!

Scope Of Role (90%)

The Head Barista role is to ensure the quality and consistency of our product, service and execution.

This includes:

• Maintain high standards of hospitality, creating a welcoming environment for all clients.
• Monitoring technical ability of team to ensure highest quality F&B preparation.
• Ensuring SOPs are adhered to for hygiene and cleanliness throughout the coffee bar and patio area.
• Complete oversight of ordering and inventory management.
• Manage vendor from onboarding to engagement, ensuring compliance and quality standards are upheld.
• Ideate and promote new menu items to enhance customer experience.
• Responsible for team scheduling and works closely with the Studio Manager to ensure business needs are met.
• Responsible for the team’s monthly payroll.
• Responsible for the daily and monthly reconciliation of all sales transactions of the coffee bar.
• Liaise with studio manager to ensure all discrepancies (if any) are accounted for.
• Oversee staff training, performance reviews, and staff development to ensure high service standards.
• Required to assist and support studio events during activation and events.

Other Responsibilities (10%)

Other responsibilities may also be assigned, including but not limited to;

• Provide recommendations to the management and operational team to improve systems and processes.
• Recommendation of menu adjustments based on sales and client feedback.
• Suggest team development trainings and cross trainings for Front Desk team
• Additional administrative assistance as deemed necessary.

The Skill You'll Need

This job is for you if you have the following skill set:

• Valid food hygiene certification from SFA.
• At least 2 years barista experience in a highly regarded coffee specialty business.
• At least 1 year experience in a senior/ supervisory experience in F&B
• Experience with team management, stock management, ordering and inventory.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, good relationship builder.
• A great team player, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• A friendly, approachable, and professional demeanour.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
