Job Description

THE ROLE: Head of Artificial Intelligence
The Head of Artificial Intelligence will lead Kaplan Singapore’s strategy, adoption, and effective use of AI to enhance student experience, operational efficiency, teaching excellence, and business performance.

This is a business-focused AI leadership role: the individual does not need to be a technical developer or engineer. Instead, they will act as a translator, strategist, and innovator, understanding how the business operates and identifying where AI can create meaningful improvement, competitive advantage, and new opportunities.

The role requires a passion for emerging technologies, a deep curiosity about how AI can transform education and operations, and the ability to influence, educate, and inspire colleagues at all levels and drive the implementation of AI solutions to deliver impact and results.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
1. AI Strategy & Vision

  • Working closely with the MD, senior leadership team and Group VP AI, develop, own and deliver Kaplan Singapore’s AI roadmap aligned to business goals across education delivery, operations, marketing, and student support.
  • Identify priority use cases where AI can add measurable value, improve experience, or increase efficiency and seek existing products from across the Kaplan group to accelerate implementation or work with development teams or partners to deliver and implement results to position KSG as competitively as possible in the market
  • Shape a long-term vision for responsible, scalable AI adoption across KSG
  • Continually evaluate emerging technologies and trends, translating them into actionable opportunities for Kaplan Singapore.

2. Business Partnering & Opportunity Identification

  • Develop deep understanding of Kaplan Singapore’s programmes, operations, student lifecycle, academic delivery, and commercial drivers.
  • Partner with business leads (e.g. Academic, Marketing, Finance, Student Services, Operations) to identify AI-enabled improvements.
  • Translate business goals into AI-enabled solutions, working with technical and vendor teams to shape delivery.
  • Prioritise initiatives based on impact, feasibility, and alignment with strategic objectives.

3. AI Adoption & Change Leadership

  • Lead the adoption of AI tools, platforms, and workflows across teams.
  • Work closely with change leads and people managers to drive capability uplift and confidence in using AI responsibly.
  • Build an AI-literate culture through education, demos, workshops, and internal engagement.
  • Support staff in identifying and trialling AI for productivity, creativity, and teaching enhancement.

4. Innovation, Experimentation & Prototyping

  • Run small-scale AI pilots and experiments to test new concepts quickly.
  • Evaluate results and recommend scaling, modifying, or discontinuing initiatives.
  • Curate internal and external examples of AI innovation in education and operations.
  • Encourage a mindset of continuous improvement and curiosity across the organisation.

5. Collaboration with Technology & External Partners

  • Work with the regional/global Kaplan AI teams, IT, data teams, and external vendors to bring AI opportunities to life.
  • Ensure clear business requirements are communicated for technical delivery.
  • Participate in vendor evaluations and manage relationships with AI solution providers.
  • Ensure projects adhere to data privacy, compliance, cybersecurity, and ethical standards.

6. Responsible and Ethical AI Leadership

  • Promote ethical, safe, and transparent AI usage across Kaplan Singapore.
  • Ensure all AI initiatives are aligned with internal policies, regulatory frameworks, and MOE expectations.
  • Drive adoption of responsible AI practices in teaching, assessment, student engagement, and operations.

7. Metrics, Value Realisation & Stewardship

  • Define success metrics for each AI initiative (efficiency, experience, academic outcomes, cost savings).
  • Track benefits realisation and communicate impact to senior leadership.
  • Maintain oversight of AI use cases, pilots, risks, and roadmap progress.
  • Provide regular updates, insights, and recommendations for continuous value creation.

Qualifications:
Because this is a business-led role rather than technical, qualifications can be flexible. More important is a demonstrable appetite for, and evidence of continual learning in AI capabilities, products and their application to deliver change.

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Digital Innovation, Communications, or other relevant discipline
  • Demonstrable familiarity with Generative AI tools and products, especially use of AI in education or a related sector

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification (MBA, MA in EdTech, or similar).
  • Certifications in AI literacy, digital transformation, innovation, or product management (e.g., Microsoft AI Fundamentals, Google AI Essentials, IDEO Design Thinking).

Skills and Competencies:
Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong understanding of organisational operations, ideally within education, training, or a service-based industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into practical technology or AI-enabled solutions.
  • Experience in innovation, digital transformation, product ownership, business analysis, or similar roles.
  • Passion for AI, emerging technologies, and their role in shaping future education and workforce needs.

  • Strong influencing skills with capability to work across diverse teams and seniority levels.
  • Proven ability to lead change initiatives and bring people on a journey.

  • Understanding of data privacy and AI ethics frameworks.
  • Exposure to design thinking or service design.
