Job Description
Job Purpose
The Finance Executive is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close, and preparing timely financial reports in accordance with accounting standards and organisational requirements. The role also contributes to the digitalisation and improvement of finance processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and controls. This position requires formal accounting qualifications and strong hands-on accounting knowledge.
Job Responsibilities
1. Accounting & Financial Operations
- Maintain a full set of accounts, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Bank Reconciliations.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.
- Ensure accurate classification of expenses and income in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies.
2. Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
- Assist in budget tracking and monitoring of expenditure against approved budgets.
- Support audit preparations, including schedules, reconciliations, and responses to auditors’ queries.
3. Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, statutory requirements, and internal financial controls.
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all financial transactions.
4. Process Improvement & Support
- Support the digitalisation and streamlining of finance processes (e.g. invoicing, payments, reconciliations, reporting).
- Work with internal stakeholders to review existing workflows and identify opportunities for automation and system improvements.
- Support implementation, testing, and documentation of finance system enhancements or new digital tools.
- Ensure digital processes maintain proper controls, audit trails, and compliance requirements.
5. Stakeholder & Ad-hoc Support
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to resolve finance-related queries accurately and promptly.
- Support ad-hoc financial analysis and management reports as required.
Job Specifications
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma / Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional accounting certification (e.g. ACCA, CPA, CA, or equivalent) preferred or in progress.
Additional Skills and Knowledge
Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on accounting experience.
Strong understanding of double-entry accounting, financial statements, and reconciliations.
Experience handling a full or partial set of accounts.
Exposure to finance systems, ERP platforms, or digital accounting tools is an advantage.
Desired Behavior
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Able to analyse financial data and provide clear explanations for variances and trends to support management decision-making.
Comfortable working with finance systems, Excel, and digital tools.
Structured, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
